REPORT ON- RSP TRAINING SESSION The Tamil Nadu Government, the Commissioner of Police, and the Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Wardens Organization in Chennai have initiated a program to instil discipline and educate students in the Road Safety Patrol (RSP) about traffic management. SBSM facilitated the participation of students in a training session organized by the Children’s Road Safety Traffic Park in Anna Square, Chennai, which took place on October 16, 2023. Representatives from the Road Safety Patrol Warden Organization, Mr. Sathya Narayanan (DPO) and Mr. Senthil Kumar (Traffic Police) assisted 35 students from Std IX and Std XI of SBSM Mr. Ashwin provided an informative presentation on road safety and awareness. He used videos and images to convey the information clearly. He covered various topics, including the meanings of traffic signals (RED, YELLOW, and GREEN), how to cross the road while following the rules, pedestrian rules, the importance of zebra crossings, the consequences of rash driving, the effects of not wearing helmets, the repercussions of not following speed limits, and the significance of wearing seat belts. The students were given an outdoor experience using a model bus stand, with Mr. Senthil Kumar, the traffic police officer, providing a clear explanation. He also discussed the age categories for using two-wheelers and four-wheelers, advising students not to operate two-wheelers if they are under 18. He emphasized the legal implications for parents who allow underage children to drive without a license. Additionally, pamphlets about traffic signs were distributed to the students.
