                                            Tamil Dhinam Celebration Report

                Shri B.S. Mootha Girls’ Sr Secondary School commemorated the birth anniversary of U.V. Saminathar on 19 February 2026 with great enthusiasm and reverence. The programme was graced by Mr. Narayanan, Assistant Professor at Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, who attended as the Guest of Honour. The event was also presided over by the School Secretary, Mr. Nirmal Nahar, the Correspondent, Mr. Rajkumar Jain, and the Principal, Mrs. Deivanai.

The celebration commenced with a prayer followed by a Tamil invocation, creating a traditional and dignified atmosphere. The Guest of Honour was warmly felicitated, and the ceremonial lamp was lit to mark the auspicious beginning of the function.

The students showcased their talents through a vibrant classical Tamil cultural programme. The performances included recitation of Thirukkural couplets, an engaging Villuppattu presentation, and a graceful traditional dance. A captivating enactment of Kuttala Kuravanchi beautifully portrayed the life and culture of the hill people. The programme also featured heartfelt tributes to U.V. Saminathar, honouring his invaluable contribution to Tamil literature.

In his address, the Guest of Honour highlighted the importance of preserving Tamil language and heritage and inspired students to take pride in their cultural roots. Prizes were distributed to students for their achievements, and a Tamil heritage exhibition was inaugurated as part of the celebration.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
