RIDS COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY 2024-25
ECO PULSE (CLASSES 7&8)
The RIDS activity on Eco Pulse was held on 16th November 2024 at the Senior Tal Auditorium, marking SBSM’s 13-year partnership with the British Council. The event was attended by the Secretary, Correspondent, Principal-in- charge, parents, teachers, and students. Classes 7 and 8 were actively involved in a range of engaging and educational projects aimed at raising environmental awareness.
One of the key activities of Eco Pulse was the Climate Showdown, where students researched environmental issues and solutions from various countries, including India, Nepal, France, the UK, and Japan. This helped them develop their research and presentation skills. Another notable event, Greenhouse Engineers, encouraged students to design sustainable greenhouses using recycled materials, fostering creativity and an appreciation for eco-friendly solutions.
In the Seasons of Celebration segment, students created digital collages linking cultural festivals with environmental themes, highlighting how sustainability plays a role in cultural practices. Additionally, students collaborated with a partner school for the “Silent Earth Keepers event, performing mime skits to raise awareness about environmental issues, which enhanced their creativity and teamwork skills.
The event also featured the Tamil poem-writing competition, “Namalum Nammudaiya: Kavithai Mozhigal,” where students penned poems on water conservation, strengthening their cultural connection to environmental stewardship.
Through these activities, students gained a deeper understanding of climate change, sustainable living, and water conservation, while simultaneously developing essential skills such as research, creativity, and collaboration. The event successfully highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability and access to clean water, reinforcing the power of education in fostering global awareness and responsibility.
