RIDS COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY 2024-25
BEYOND STEREOTYPES (CLASSES 5&6)
The RIDS activity on “Beyond Stereotypes” was conducted on 23rd January 2025 at the Senior Tal Auditorium. The event was attended by the Secretary, Correspondent, Principal-in-charge, along with parents, teachers, and students. The inauguration set the stage for an engaging exploration of gender equality through cultural exchange and educational activities.
The activity, targeting Classes 5 and 6, aimed to engage students in understanding and challenging gender stereotypes. Through five key segments, students researched and presented their findings on gender equality across different countries, including India, Bangladesh, France, the UK, and Nepal. They explored how these stereotypes influence behaviour and opportunities, helping them understand the global implications of gender bias.
In the first segment, Gender Globetrotters, students conducted research and presented findings through PPTs, gaining insight into gender issues worldwide. In Masterpieces in the Making, students worked in teams to create models using recyclable materials that represented various aspects of gender equality, such as empowerment and equal pay.
Students also participated in Artistic Allies, blending visual arts and performing arts to create impactful posters and musical performances that addressed gender equality. Another activity, Heroes of the Games, involved students creating a scrapbook highlighting gender equality in the 2024 Olympics, showcasing the achievements of male and female athletes from countries like India, France, the UK, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
The final segment, Mythic Matriarchs: Folklore Reimagined, encouraged students to research and perform skits on legendary women from different cultures, bringing folklore to life and celebrating their cultural significance. These performances were shared with the partner schools and displayed on online platforms for the community to appreciate.
The event successfully fostered a deeper understanding of gender equality through research, creative expression, and cross-cultural collaboration, with students engaging in meaningful activities that promoted awareness and action.
