28th Reading Day, Reading Week, and Reading Month Celebrations – Mass run with the slogan “Reading for Empowerment”
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader” was one of the slogans from the mass run by the future leaders of India from the KG compartment. 18 children participated in the mass run with slogans emphasizing the importance of reading.
The 28th Reading Day, Reading Week, and Reading Month were started by our School principal’s Pledge in the Assembly.
LKG and UKG children participated in the mass run raising slogans in their little voice. Principal Mam’s presence at the start of the run was a real booster for the tiny tots. They went around the school with their placards and their seniors were spellbound by the happy and enthusiastic demeanour of the little ones. Quiz, elocution, essay writing, drawing and painting, recitation, and storytelling competitions were conducted for classes 3rd to 12th. Street play by the 12th class children in the school assembly to inculcate reading habits was well received by the other children. Folk music and dance depicting reading for growth was a treat to eyes and ears. Campaign with the slogans ‘Donate a Book’ by children of classes 1 and 2 motivated the children to donate a book to the school library. The promotion of group reading by our school librarians was a huge hit among all children. Pictures and videos were taken.
We, at SBSM, believe the phrase ‘Catch Them Young.’
