47th AnnualDay 2023
Shri B.S. Mootha Girls Senior Secondary School joyfully celebrated its 47th Annual Day on December 15, 2023, at Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai, with immense enthusiasm. The Hon’ble Chief Guest, Shri. M. Sesha Sai, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Seychelles, graced the occasion, accompanied by the Guest of Honour, Shri. Udhan Chordia, Secretary of AM Jain College, and esteemed dignitaries, including Secretary Mr. Vijay Kothari, Correspondent Mr. Kishan Srisrimal Jain, Chairman Mr. Prakash C. Sacheti, Managing Trustee Mr. L Dharmichand Singhvi, Vice Chairman Mr. Harish Metha, and Principal Mrs. Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan.
The day began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, followed by the dignitaries’ felicitation with bouquets and mementos. The Principal, Mrs. Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan presented the School Annual Report, highlighting achievements of the school. Correspondent Mr. Kishan Srisrimal Jain welcomed the gathering. In the Prize Distribution Ceremony, accolades were bestowed upon academically meritorious students of X and XII Board Examinations. The Chief Guest, in his inspiring speech, emphasized the significance of instilling values in education for effective service to the nation.
A special announcement was made, by the Principal, regarding the Dr. Ravada Jaya Memorial Award. Dr. Jaya Venugopal was the former Principal of our school from 1979 to 1987. In her memory, her family members have instituted the Dr. Ravada Jaya Memorial Award, of Rs. One lakh to a deserving, meritorious student from SBSM. Ms. M. Sakshi of class XII, was awarded the Dr. Ravada Jaya Memorial Award for being the best student of the year 2023-24.
Artwork done by SBSM students was displayed at the Auditorium and was well appreciated by the visitors. The Primary Cultural Extravaganza, themed “Nature and Numbers – Prakruthi ke Rang,” featured an enchanting Invocation Dance portraying Lord Vishnu’s avatars, a captivating dance performance by tiny tots emphasizing the importance of numbers, and a heartfelt lyrical performance dedicated to planets and elements. A potent social message was conveyed through mime, emphasizing the ‘Power of One.’
The Cultural Fiesta for Senior Students, themed “Nari shakthi,” showcased students’ prowess through captivating performances, including an invocation dance as a thanksgiving to deities, a tribute to silent heroines and their legacies, an ode to the Chipko movement, a musical dance drama displaying the resilience and grace of Draupathi, modern mime creating social awareness on women empowerment, enchanting and mesmerizing UV dance, Western dance related to the aura of womanhood, and a musical interlude. The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the National Anthem, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present.
