The school saw a fantastic day of sports excellence as it enthusiastically celebrated its 47th Annual Sports Day on 26th August 2023 at Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore.

The Honourable Minister Sekar Babu was the chief guest of the ceremony. Shri J. Karunanthi, MLA was the guest of honour. Secretary Shri. Vijay Kothari, Correspondent Shri.Kishan Srisrimal Jain, Chairman Shri. Prakash C Sacheti, Managing trustee Shri.Dharmichand Singhvi, Vice President Shri. Harish Mehta, other management members of the school, and Principal Smt. Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan welcomed and felicitated the honourable guests.

The day’s proceedings began with a euphonious prayer. The highlight of the day was the march past led by the school pupil leader with the contingent comprising of council members and the four houses. The Honourable Guests took the salute. The sports torch was lit by the chief guest, who declared the sports meet open. The students took part actively in the oath-taking ceremony on an optimistic note.

The Honourable Minister Sekar Babu addressed the gathering with a motivational speech. To exhibit the importance of team work and coordination, students participated in several drills. The tiny tots of KG performed unicorn drill, std I and II did a drill with pom–pom as props, followed by std III & IV with their dumbbell drill, and the FLAG drill of class V & VI kindled the sense of unity in diversity and Go Green by VII and VIII, “Save trees” by high school. The bold and stunning performance of the school band, Silambam and Yoga, kept the audience spellbound. All displays offered entertainment of a most novel and pleasing nature.    

After a day of strenuous sports activities, the curtains came down on the 47th Annual Sports Meet of Shri B S Mootha Girls Senior Secondary School, during the closing ceremony. The winners of the various events were honoured with gold, silver and bronze medals during the closing ceremony by the dignitaries. Amidst the celebratory mood Suwayatha  R M (XI A) was conferred with the prestigious individual champion for  U-19, B Karunya (IX E) and S Shamirah (IX A) for U-17 and A Aradhana (VII B) for U-14. The winners of the drill were class V and VI for Flag drill and Best display went to silambam. Best Silambam performer award was bagged by A.N Dharshini of class VII A. Best yoga performer award was bagged by Sanjana jassal 10 E. Pushpanjali House bagged the overall champion ship with 1280 points and was also adjudged the best marching contingent.

The ceremonial passing of the school and house flags to the Principal Mrs Swarnalatha Gopalakrishnan, signified the end of the sports day which witnessed the enthralling performances and enthusiasm of all the students. Multiple hours of training and the strenuous efforts taken by the students and teachers will ever be inscribed in the history of the school.
